Hey, just a little context with Perfect Dark - Yes, many have said some of the game from the trailer seemed to be what many would call a "vertical slice", but others have also have mentioned other aspects that actually helps clarify some of those combat scenes that looked unreal. For instance the many hand to hand combat scenes looked to have had multiple movements with one button press - This is likely some kind of "takedown" or "counter" that you can use that might require some kind of meter to fill up in order to use. I believe there is likely a similar thing going on with the slowed down combat sections with a energy bar that empties as you use the slow mo ability. The pistol, I believe is a "smart pistol" that likely has limited ammo, but it has some sort of auto lock on capability, we've seen these kind of guns and weapons in games before, I believe Cyberpunk has one, I could be mistaken. Phil, during his IGN interview after the show actually confirmed that all of that was gameplay and that he and some of the other heads of their studios had seen that specific section of the game being played weeks prior to the showcase. Seeing that there is no release date or year, what is likely is that the city/town area we saw, is one of the only "fully" playable areas in the game at the moment, obviously some things are a bit sped up and plenty of cuts throughout in order to have a good "flow" and keep the momentum of the overall showcase because this game will likely be a fairly slow paced game, as most stealth/ sim games are. I've worked with marketing teams for games and movies in the past, so that's just a little bit of insight that might be what is going on with Perfect Dark.
